Anyone, at any time, can suffer from imbalance for a variety of reasons – hearing loss, tinnitus, and many other ear conditions can be the cause to our dizziness.

There are things you can do to minimize the risk of a fall. Wearing proper footwear, even in the house, can help keep you steady on your feet. Avoid flip-flops and slip-ons, as these can increase the risk of trips and falls.

Contact us right away if you’re worried about an underlying condition that could be causing your dizziness & imbalance.

The first-ever electric hearing aid was called an Akouphone and was invented in 1898 by a man named Miller Reese Hutchinson.

It used a carbon transmitter to amplify weak sounds and was fully portable!

We may have kept the technology, but we have certainly come a long way in the design department!

Alix is the newest member of the Clarity Hearing team, but it feels as though she’s always been here. Alix joined us last summer but was already a familiar face as she spent a few months with us, gaining her experience, while she was at school.

Dr. Alix gained her bachelor of science in communications, sciences, and disorders from the University of Texas before gaining her doctor of audiology from Lemar University. She has a wide range of expertise in both hearing loss and balance disorders.

When she isn’t hard at work, Alix enjoys…Spending time with friends and family, traveling (especially to the beach?), fishing, and cheering on the Astros and The University of Texas Football team. Hook ‘Em Horns!

Favorite music genre:
George Strait

Favorite animal: Dogs

Favorite quote:  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13.

Biggest inspiration: My youngest cousin, Thomas, is my biggest inspiration in life. He is the reason that I am an Audiologist today.

He was born deaf and later received a cochlear implant around age 5. Watching his language develop and hearing abilities improve moved me in ways that I could have never imagined.
