How The Latest Apple iOS Update Has Caused Connectivity Issues for Hearing Aid Users

Last month, Apple released its latest iOS update, but it didn’t go to plan. Although iPhones and tablets are set to update when the new software is released, it didn’t happen quite so smoothly this time around…

iPhone ReSound update

Apple has received an uncountable number of complaints concerning problems with Bluetooth. The issue lies with a new feature that requires the user to give second permission when connecting an external device via Bluetooth to their cell phone or tablet.

The second permission, however, only appears when you enter the app itself. A message appears to prompt the user to accept the permission, and if the user has chosen the OK option, then all will work fine. But for those who have opted for Don’t Allow, the Bluetooth will not connect.

Understandably, this has caused much confusion and frustration among users, as the Bluetooth is activated on the iPhone/tablet level, but not on the app. So when users can’t connect their devices via Bluetooth, but the Bluetooth symbol is activated, it may seem that there is a problem with the external device they are trying to connect to.

Many of my patients have called in worried that their ReSound hearing aids were not working, but the good news is that this not the case. The problem is with the iOS 13 update, so you can rest assured that there is a way to fix the issue, and we’re here to help you do just that.

If you, like many others, are having difficulty connecting your ReSound hearing aids to your iPhone or tablet, then please read our article, which gives you step by step instructions to help you fix your Bluetooth connectivity issues. The article will cover the two most common problems and how to fix them.
