Phonak Hearing Aids

Phonak Hearing Aids

A long line of innovative accomplishments began with the first portable audio devices released under the Phonak Alpina brand in 1950. With more than 70 years of establishing its foundation of knowledge and experience, Phonak is a leader in the development of wireless communication, which the company has applied to its hearing devices in order to drive the philosophy that “life is on.”

Visaton Super, a pair of glasses with integrated hearing aids, was among the company’s first innovations in 1967, and the company produced the world’s first BTE (behind-the-ear) hearing aid (Phonette) in 1970. The audio input that established the foundation for FM devices was introduced by Phonak in 1979.

In 1992, PICS, which was the first digitally programmed hearing aid with an analog processor, was released by Phonak, followed closely by the AudioZoom multi-microphone concept in 1994 and MicroLink, the first tiny FM receiver in 1996.

Phonak’s innovation history continues with the release of the first digital hearing system with FM receiver in 1999 and the tiny MLx ear-level FM receiver hearing system the following year. After launching SmartLink (Bluetooth integration technology) in 2003, Phonak has worked toward the development of bionic systems with the latest in digital technology for natural, effortless hearing. Also, the development of Binaural VoiceStream Technology improved sound distinction by up to 45% of challenging noise environments.

Innovations in the development of materials technology led to the release of water-resistant housings in 2008. Coupled with nano-digital technology, water-resistance led to the development of Phonak’s extended wear product, Lyric, introduced in 2011.

Phonak added other innovations like integrated tinnitus management, advanced recharging capabilities, and improved connectivity.
