Oticon Hearing Aids

Oticon Hearing Aids

Oticon is one of the oldest manufacturers of modern hearing aids, originally labeling them as electric Acousticon devices in 1904. After partnering with Charles Lehman, American-Danish Oticon Corporation became the leading provider of hearing aids after World War II and went global in 1965.

The company’s first ultra-discreet in-the-ear (ITE) hearing device was released to the public in 1977, and its first digital device in 1996. Oticon’s introduced the first devices with improved sound sensitivity as well as streaming and connectivity features in 2007.

Brain Hearing and the development of Life Changing Technology for hearing aid users with a “people first” approach has been the focus of Oticon in the 21st century.

Hearing Technology Solutions From Oticon

Oticon’s Brain Hearing philosophy focuses on supporting how the brain processes sound by providing it with the elements necessary to create meaning from sound rather than amping up the volume of sound.

The company’s approach led to the development of the Opn solution in 2016. Opn optimized the ability of the device wearer to distinguish between multiple speakers within a noisy environment. Also, it became the first hearing device to provide internet connectivity (ConnectClip) using the IFTTT (If This Then That) Network.

Digital technology has been a part of Oticon’s hearing technology solutions for twenty-five years, motivating them to develop higher quality of sound and enhanced instrument performance. Investments in micro-digital technology have made it possible for Oticon to manufacture smaller devices with higher performance capacity.

Taking advantage of streaming capabilities, Oticon created integrated Tinnitus SoundSupport in its hearing device, which transmits white noise and other tinnitus masking sounds for auditory relief.
